Exactly what happens to your documents, and your name.

Carnoat reads your paperwork with AI, removes what is personal and has a person check the result. When you sell, it discloses only what you choose, to people whose identity is verified. Here is how, step by step.

Reading a document

From a photo of a work order to an entry on the timeline.
  1. Vision AI reads the page

Date, mileage, cost, garage and the work done, in any language, from a clean PDF or a creased photo of a handwritten work order.

  2. A second reading checks it

Every value is looked for in an independent text recognition of the same page. What can’t be found there is marked for you to check.

  3. You confirm, a person approves

Nothing joins the history before you have seen it. Before a document can count for the score or reach a buyer, a person on our team approves it.

Personal details, in three layers

Privacy is about people, not businesses: the garage that did the work stays visible, the customer doesn’t.
  1. AI that recognises people

Names, addresses, phone numbers and account numbers, in any format, are blacked out on a copy. The garage’s name and VAT number stay.

  2. A second, independent check

A separate check looks for anything that still resembles a phone number, an account number or an email address.

  3. A person, when in doubt

If the second check finds something the first missed, the document waits for a person. It is never released by mistake.

Removed: the owner, their address and phone number, the mechanic’s name.Kept: the garage, the date, the car, its mileage and the work done.

Private Sale

Disclosed in stages, never by default

When you sell, each step is yours to take. Contact never comes before an identity check on both sides.
  1. An anonymous outline

A buyer sees make, model, a mileage band, the country and the verification score. No name, no town, no plate.

  2. An identity check, both ways

Buyer and owner each pass a check before they can reach each other. It keeps idle curiosity and fraud out.

  3. The owner accepts

Only then does a private conversation open. Names and numbers are shared by each side, when it chooses.

  4. Released, piece by piece

The owner chooses which photos and redacted documents the buyer sees. Never an original.

The identity check

Free, once per account, and about two minutes.

A specialised identity provider checks your ID document and that it is really you. Carnoat learns only the result. The provider keeps its own records as the law against fraud requires; Carnoat never stores your ID document.

Stored like a vault

Encrypted at rest
Every document is stored encrypted, with a key of its own, apart from the rest of the system.
Hosted in the EU
Servers and backups in the European Union, under the GDPR.
Not used for training
The AI providers we use do not train their models on your documents.
Originals stay yours
Your original documents are never shown to anyone else, staff only to check them.

You stay in control

Download everything Carnoat holds about you at any time, or delete a document or your whole account. The one exception is a car you sold through Carnoat: its history goes with the car to its new owner, as a service book would.
